Her committed avant-garde feminist and ecological message left more than 100 works as gifts, including sculptures, drawings, videos, photographs between the '60s and '90s, some of which were never before seen and never presented to the public.
The generosity of collectors with the collaboration of the Il Giardino dei Tarocchi Foundation, the Niki Charitable Art Foundation and the Fondazione Capalbio have finally made possible this important project to present to the public this work as beautiful as it is colossal.
This dream come true is living proof of the creative force of this visionary artist in matters of women's rights, African Americans and ecological thinking on climate change.
Passionate about her commitments, she believed deeply in the human capacity for innovation and reinvention. She would surely have seen the current crisis as a necessary collective awakening to open a new path against the arrogance and aggressiveness of the political, economic and financial systems.
Like most of her works, the garden is the manifestation of a microcosm capable of revealing the deepest and most secret archetypal images of our unconscious.

A real initiatory journey beyond the surrounding wall, symbolic border between the real world and the imaginary world, the visitor is invited to confront his fears in the form of dragons, witches and demons, to meet queens and prophets for finally getting to the Angel of Temperance. The Garden of Tarots lives to the rhythm of the sun and the moon in a deep desire for sharing.
Niki de Saint Phalle wanted to steal fire from the men who held the power of this adventurous and mysterious world. She lived her loving and artistic collaboration with Jean Tinguely as a gift from heaven, an immense privilege.
Like any childbirth at Niki de Saint Phalle's, this garden was born with difficulty, faith and passion. In search of the treasure of life, between symbolic imagery and personal mythology, the tarot allowed her to better understand the spiritual world and the problems of this existence with the cards given at birth.
Realizing the difficulties she had to overcome to pass from one test to the next, she finally wanted to find inner peace at the end of the game in the Paradise Garden.
In accordance with her adoration of curves, this space is all round, in colorful undulations to respond to her intimate conviction, "the world is a breast...”
Niki de Saint Phalle nourished this immense work of peace, joy and hope. A place of beauty where, more than ever, it is good to relax and dream...
