JARDIN ALBERT KAHN

-BOULOGNE BILLANCOURT -

Having become the owner of his private mansion in Boulogne sur-Seine, the banker Albert Kahn purchased the neighboring plots of land to turn his four hectares into a “stage” garden in the particular style of the 19th century.

He thus creates a plant space of correspondence with the collection of images in his museum and thus imagines this harmony between each culture smoothly succeeding Japanese garden, English garden, golden forest, Vosges forest and French garden.

In this masterful exercise, he proves that differences can perfectly coexist and give birth to a peaceful and universal beauty.

The Department has taken advantage of the museum’s renovation work since April 2022 to carry out the scenographic lighting of the site by highlighting the landscape scenes of the garden.

Visitors can follow a lighted path between the different buildings and stroll to the magnificent restored greenhouse.

The place breathes the dream of its creator, playing on modernity and classicism, purity and abundance to reveal a journey that goes beyond the steps to the heart of the soul.
